Christian Education |
|
| |
We believe that learning is important in the life of a Christian and in the life of a church. Our Christian education program encourages learners to:
-know themselves as persons who are children of God -know God revealed in Jesus Christ -know themselves as part of a Christian Community -discover the Holy Spirit in their lives -discover who God has called them to be -live and work in the world in light of all of the above.
We offer worship and education programs for preschoolers through grade six on Sunday mornings from September through May. Care for infants and toddlers is provided in the nursery on the second floor of the education wing. All other children begin the morning in the sanctuary with their families, leaving about 10:45 to go to their classrooms, and returning for our closing circle and benediction. On the first Sunday of each month they return to join the congregation for communion.
The Church School program encourages children to take part in mission projects during the year. Money is raised each year for Heifer Project International and for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Youth Mission Trip: 2012 ASP Mission Trip: July 7-14, 2012
June 2011: Enthusiasm from the 2010 trip brought additional adults on this year's trip to West Virginia.
Aug. 2010: Ten of our youth recently returned from a mission trip to West Virginia where they worked on two houses. The bulk of their work consisted of constructing a roof on one of the houses, putting up sheetrock, and a ceiling! Although an exhausting trip for the team (four adults participated as well), they plan to go on another mission trip next year. They thank the many businesses and individuals who came forward with donations of money, tools, water, and other support that made their trip possible.

Music |

Our choir is a hard-working, fun loving and super-friendly group of essentially regular folks. We are committed to serving and praising God, to enhancing the worship service by bringing the people gathered closer to God, and to making wonderful music together. We rehearse Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm and warm up Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM. We are all amateur singers and enthusiastically welcome new singers.
We have a number of gifted instrumentalists – children and adults – in our congregation who participate in the music ministry of our church.
Our children are enthusiastic singers, and from time to time rehearse songs that they share during Sunday worship.
Each summer our church is a stop on the tour of Village Harmony, a group of high school students who provide a varied concert program of music from the Balkans to Appalachia, from shape-notes to gospel.

Mission Outreach |

We believe in putting our faith into action. Through the United Church of Christ Global Ministries we participate in an extended ministry to those of special need throughout the nation and the world. We do work with Church World Service, a cooperative ministry that provides sustainable self-help and development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance in some 80 countries. With CWS we have conducted Tools & Blanket Drives, collected supplies for Health & School Kits, and organized our first ever Lee CROP Walk on May 6, 2007.
Closer to home we offer both financial support and personal participation in programs such as Construct Inc., Relay for Life, and the Lee Food Pantry on Railroad Street. Our building is also the site for many community activities and service organizations.
Food Pantry Needs We are a drop-off site for the Lee Food Pantry. The church office is open Monday through Friday 9am until 1pm, feel free to telephone first if you'd like to drop something off.
